Designing a boat for The Gingerbread Man

In Science, we are looking at materials and their properties. After sharing the story of The Gingerbread Man, Sycamore Class decided to design their own boat for The Gingerbread Man to get across the river. We had a discussion about floating and sinking. The children were mainly successful, with many realising if they used paper it would soon get soggy and sink!
